Weight loss: Considering the consequences

When you routinely break the rules of the mind and body, eventually the rules begin to break you!

There are many 'natural' rules that we are required to follow to maintain a healthy mind, body, and life.


Some rules we are forced to abide by daily..


Others are a little bit more 'flexible'.


Some come with immediate consequences if broken, and others come with delayed consequences.... BUT consequences nonetheless!


An obvious rule that we are forced to abide by each day is the rule of gravity.


Break that and you JUST MIGHT break an ankle, your neck.. or worse!


Another one is the rule of the breath.


Break that rule, and within 60 seconds of doing so, you'll experience the consequences.


Two other rules are rules regarding hydration and energy(food consumption).


….Break them for 2 days straight and you'll begin to feel the effects.


….Break them for 20 and you'll struggle to move.


….Break them for 40 and you know what will happen!


As I mentioned already, there are also 'flexible' rules that we must obey, but that don't come with immediate consequences if we disobey them.


One of these rules is the rule of physical activity.


Break this rule every day by becoming a couch potato and you might get away with it for a couple of years.


But EVENTUALLY, the rule will catch up with and BREAK YOU for consistently BREAKING IT..


Another rule is the rule of PROPER nutrition.


The body will survive, for some time, on junk, because it can still use junk as a source of energy, but when junk is overconsumed regularly, it slowly begins to break down the interior of the body, and when that begins to happen, the consequences of breaking the rule begin to materialise.


Such consequences can be mental/emotional or physical and generally tend to be a blend of the three.


The consequences aren't necessarily 'punishments'. Rather, they can be likened to a car alarm - there to alert us to potential danger....


... There to help us shed light on the rules being broken, and to incentivise us to make a change before the damage becomes irreversible.


There is another rule that I must mention....


And the rule is this: you can 'break' some of the rules!


Yes, you can become a temporary couch potato tomorrow, eat 5 takeaways and wash them down with two bottles of wine, and guess what?.... you won't be severely 'punished' for doing so..... as long as you don't fall into the HABIT of breaking the rule, that is!


Right.... I could keep you here all day reminding you of the rules. But that's all I'd be doing - reminding!


Truth is, intuitively, you already know the rules!


The purpose of this post is to merely remind you and hopefully encourage you to begin to abide by some of the rules that you might be breaking.


Broken rules that could be causing minor or major pain for you right now.. Or that might cause minor/ major pain off into the future!
