Are you looking to lose weight going into the new year? If so, then use these 10 tips from my coaching programme to help you get started, stay on track and lose weight in 2022. Tips 7 - 10 are my favorite, but be sure to read through them ALL to see what you might favor most.
Tip 1 - Get clear on your 'why'
The 'how' is the bridge that will take you from A-Z, but the 'why' is what will get you to step foot upon and cross it. So get clear on it. Why is it important for you to lose weight? Really think about it, write it down and then read over and review it regularly, especially on the days when you lack motivation.
Tip 2 - put a plan in place
To get to the desired destination, it's helpful to have a roadmap. The same is true when it comes to losing weight. Without a plan, you just might get lost and turn back. Tip 3 - Don't rely on the scales
Weight can increase due to a multitude of factors, even when you're losing body fat. So don't rely upon it. Rather, take measurements and use old clothing to track progress.
Tip 4 - Stay hydrated
Drinking enough water will not only keep you hydrated, but it will also keep you fuller for longer which in turn will result in you, not overeating. Aim for 1-3 liters every day.
Tip 5 - Increase protein intake
High protein foods are usually lower in calories and more filling than low protein foods. By increasing your intake, you'll stay fuller for longer and consume fewer calories. Aim for a palm-sized amount with each meal.
Tip 6 - Exercise with ease
Spend at least 20-minutes 3-times per week doing your favorite form of exercise. This could be walking, strength training, HiiT, yoga, or whatever else. It doesn't matter what it is as long as it is something.
Tip 7 - Use the 5-minute rule
If you dread the thought of working out, then give yourself permission to stop after 5-minutes. By doing so you'll ease the resistance that sometimes builds in the lead-up.
Tip 8 - Mindfully manage cravings
To manage cravings, rather than reacting to them right away, get into the habit of giving yourself 5-minutes to mindfully inspect them. You can still have what you crave, just wait for 5-minutes. This will help zap their strength.
Tip 9 - Manage stress
Eating well and exercising are a lot easier when we feel good, and a lot harder when we don't. By learning to manage your stress, you'll increase the likelihood of doing what needs to be done in order to lose weight.
Tip 10 - Test your assumptions
'To lose weight I have to cut out my favorite foods.' Is that really though? Put it to the test by putting the above tips into practice while having your favorite foods in moderation to see if the assumption is correct. By applying to above tips, the above assumption will likely be proved inaccurate.
