Does the thought of training in a gym feel more daunting than sitting down to watch a terrifying horror?
Like entering a haunted house:
As you walk in, the hairs on your neck begin to stand.
Down your spine shoots a cold shiver.
'Heebie-jeebie' inducing.
Or similar to what it feels like when you are watching a horror in bed, but have to go downstairs to get a drink.
As you knock off the lights and dart back up the stairs, it feels like there's something there.
Behind you.
Watching…..
To the right, you have the 'boogeyman bodybuilders'.
To the left, the 'wicked witches with the tiny waists'.
Gym. Jam-packed...
With chaotic moans, groans and shouts penetrating the depths of your ear drums.
It can be terrifying for the 'newbie'.
But the main cause of the terror is likely this:
You simply don't know what to do.
You see, where confidence is lacking, fear usually dwells.
And a lack of confidence usually comes down to a lack of:
guidance
action
and experience
For example, if you entered a haunted house every day for 10 days, you'd be a lot less afraid on your tenth visit compared to your very first.
Wouldn't you?
Especially if you had an experienced guide who showed you how to navigate the house, and helped build your confidence within it.
The same can be said about the gym.
Although most of my clients prefer to train with me on my online sessions,...
.. those who've been training with me for more than 3 months, if they had to, would feel 10x more confident training in a gym than they did feel prior to starting my programme.
Why?
Because they learned how to exercise:
safely
correctly
and effectively
And over time, began to understand the structure of a good workout.
So if they do happen to go to the gym, they'll know exactly what to do... and would be quite confident doing it.
Remember:
Working out and improving your life doesn't have to be terrifying. On the contrary, it should be very gratifying and liberating.
And with structure, guidance and support, it can be for you.
